Namaste Everyone! I hope you guys are well and safe in your homes. As promised in my previous blog,
I am back with a list of food items that should be consumed and more importantly the ones that should not be consumed by people belonging to each type of dosha. This could help a lot of people in managing their doshas with the right food.
Recommended Food for Three Doshas

  Food for Vata Type Body

Recommended

Ghee, Milk, little Butter.

Dairy

Cheese, Yogurt

Cauliflower, Green Beans, Green Chilies, Asparagus, Beets, Carrots, Cucumber, Okra, Onions , Garlic, Radish, Sweet Potato, Turnips, Pumpkin.

Vegetables

Raw cabbage, Celery, Brinjal, Leafy Green Vegetables, Mushroom, Peas, Pepper (Simla mirch) Potato, Sprouts, Raw Tomato, Zucchini (torai), Raw Radish.

Avocados, Bananas, Coconuts, Dates, Mango, Melon, Peaches, Grapes, Plum, Figs.

Fruits

Apples, Pears, Pomegranates, Dates, Raisins.

Oats, White or Brown Rice & Wheat

Grains

Barley, Corn, Millet

Almost all Spices & Herbs in moderation.

Spices

Caraway seeds

White meat (chicken, fish - baked or broiled), Chicken Broth.

Meats

Turkey, Rabbit, Pork, Lamb


Food for Pitta Type Body

Asparagus, Broccoli, Cabbage, Cucumber, Cooked Onion, Sweet Potato, Okra, Cauliflower

Vegetables

Beet, Greens, Carrot, Garlic, Green chilies, Onion, Peppers, Prickly Pear, Radish, Spinach, Turnip

Sweet Apple, Sweet Berries, Coconut, Date, Avocado, Melon, Fig, Plum, Pomegranates

Fruits

Sour Apples & Berries, Bananas, Strawberries, Lemon, Peaches, Cranberries.

Oats, Barley, White or Brown Rice & Wheat

Grains

Corn, Millet

Cumin, Coriander, Black pepper, Cardamom, Fennel, Fresh Basil , Ginger, Turmeric & Dill

Spices

Carom seeds or Bishops weed, Asfoetida, Mace, Mustard, Garlic

Baked or Broiled Chicken, Turkey or White Fish in moderate amounts.

Meat, Chicken, Ducks, Eggs, Pork, Salmon, Sardines


Food for Kapha Type Body

Small amount of Goat Milk, Ghee in moderation

Milk, Clarified Butter, Cheese

Generally all Vegetables are good.

Vegetables

Cucumber, Olives, Potato, Pumpkin, Raw Tomato.

Apples, Apricots, Pears, Pomegranates, Dried Fruits in general (Apricots, Figs, Prunes, Raisins)

Fruits

All Sweet juicy fruits in general, Bananas, Grapes, Mango, Coconut, Watermelon, Melons.

Barley, Muesli, Buckwheat, Oats, Oat Bran, Small amount of wheat.

Grains

Bread with yeast, Cooked Oat, Wheat, White Rice.

Almost all spices are good. Ginger is best for improving digestion, Turmeric for drying out the mucous, & Chilies for removing mucous.

Fresh Water Fish, Shrimp, Rabbit, small quantity of White Meat.

Meats

Beef, Buffalo, Chicken, Duck.
